Abstract
Harnessing big data can provide useful information for better analysis. With this information, planners and decision makers can make better decisions relating to planning, investing, designing, constructing and management of transportation systems. This presentation will focus on the big data applications in accessibility analysis, public transport planning and operations and site selections for services and businesses. Both the frameworks of data fusion and actual applications will be presented. In this seminar, an overview is given of weaknesses in traditional/current travel demand forecasting. Then, insights are provided about new data sources such as GIS, public transport, mobile phones, etc. Finally, new opportunities for travel forecasts by integrating big data, better mobility-analytic tools and tailored indictors will be introduced.
