Cube 6 - Beta Program

Participate in the Cube 6 Beta Program

Receive Free Registration and Hotel to Futura 2011

Citilabs is pleased to announce the public beta program for Cube 6.   We seek the participation of government agencies and private consulting firms active in transport modeling.  Participation is free of charge.  Upon successful completion of the beta testing program, Citilabs will provide free registration and three nights hotel accommodation for one person from the participating agency/firm at Citilabs' upcoming International User Conference Futura 2011 (Oct 30 through November 2 in Palm Springs, California).

About Cube 6

Cube 6 provides a powerful new way of running and sharing transport models and their results through the use of cloud computing.  With Cube 6, a model is developed in the desktop version of Cube and then published and run in a public cloud-computing environment (Amazon's Elastic Compute Cloud).

This brings four major improvements to the field of transport modeling:

1.Speed. Transport models are larger and more complex than ever and they require longer and longer run times.  The cloud-computing environment in Cube 6 provides access to Citilabs' Cube Cluster technology that allows the models calculations to be run over an array of processors.  In the cloud, your model can run much more quickly as you will have access to large arrays of processors (4, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128....cores). You don't have to buy and renew hardware to stay at the forefront of computing power.

2.Scalability.  Sometimes you run your model infrequently and sometimes you need to run many scenarios all within the same week.  In the desktop environment, you are restricted to the hardware available to you in your office.  In the cloud environment, you have access to as many processors as you need, when you need them, without the need to purchase vast amounts of hardware.

3.Secure Model Sharing.  Once the model is published to the cloud, the model and data are all physically located on servers accessed through a common web browser using a secure login id/password process. This allows the sharing of the models without actually sending model scripts and data files protecting your intellectual property and eliminating the potential for model corruption by non-experts.

4.Data Portal.  Models produce lots of information.  In the desktop environment, it is difficult to share and communicate this information with others.  With Cube 6, you can simply provide a login to a model client and provide access to the maps, charts and data that are produced by the model.

Cube 6 is now available for public beta.  Citilabs will work with you to convert and place a model into the cloud computing environment.   These models must meet certain criteria.  We are offering this service and the use of the cloud environment for 3 months free of all costs.

Criteria for Participation in the Beta Program

-Your model should have both demand and supply components-a process to estimate matrices of travel and a process to assign the travel to the networks.

-Your model may be in any of the following formats:
  • Cube Voyager
  • TP+
  • TRIPS
  • TRANPLAN
  • any of the major competing modeling packages
-You will supply us with the necessary data, documentation, scripts and any 'user program' executables free of charge.

-You will supply us with key run results from the original model so that we can verify that the results produced in the cloud version are accurate.

-You agree to actively contribute to the process, use the model and provide feedback and suggestions to Citilabs.

-Certain results of the beta test (run speeds etc.) may be used by Citilabs for marketing purposes.

-Your model will be removed from the cloud environment at the end of the beta program.
